The Deacon I Want To Be: Growing in Faith, Faithful in Service

Facilitator-Rob Barge
A six-lesson, video-based study designed to inform, inspire and motivate current and prospective deacons, and all men in our church family, to grow spiritually and serve faithfully. Led by our Chairman of Deacons, Rob Barge, this unique SALT class will explore the responsibilities and privileges of deacon service.

We will base our study primarily on excellent materials prepared by Dr. Johnny Hunt, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Woodstock, Georgia. Plan to be a part of of this study in the practical applications of deacon ministry in Holland Avenue Baptist Church. Learn more about a deacon's worthiness, his work, his wife, his worship, his walk and his witness. The men's ministry of our church will be energized by these powerful lessons.

That the World May Know:
Facilitator-Charles Wilson
Centuries ago, God left His mark on a people and their land.  Today, Israel’s heritage offers Christians the promise of His enduring faithfulness.  That The World May Know, a DVD series led by Dr. Ray Vander Laan, takes us to the land of the Bible that we may Know God  and His people better.

Inductive Study of James
Facilitator-Brad Tillman
Do you want more from Bible Study? Do you want a fresh look at Scripture? Then, come learn how to study the Bible inductively by observing, interpreting, and applying the Word. We will then take those skills and look at the book of James in a new way. This class should benefit anyone who wants to get more out of the Word.

Entering the Lion's Den
Facilitator-Patrick Lengel
This class will seek to answer your questions as we look at topics that affect Christians today. Along with any questions you may have, we will also discuss topics such as: the problems with The Shack, why bad things happen to good people, and how do we balance what the Bible says in light of the seemingly diverse opinion of science? Even more important, this class will help you develop a biblical worldview and give you the tools to enter your own lion's den - whether work, school, friends, or family. This class is for anyone who desires to deepen their relationship with Christ by being "transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Love and Respect
Facilitators- Ken & Terra Kelly
In this study, based upon Ephesians 5:33 and extensive biblical and psychological research, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs reveals the power of unconditional love and unconditional respect and how husbands and wives can reap the benefits of marriage that God intended.

When Wallflowers Dance
Facilitator: Angie Sanders
When we were two, we were no longer babies-we were becoming little girls. And when we were thirteen, we were leaving childhood behind, becoming young women. But somewhere along the way, we stopped becoming. We became "un-women." Wallflowers who are just breathing and smiling and blending in to stay out of the way.

That is not what God had in mind when He created us. He wants us to keep becoming. He wants us to become strong, decisive, wise, creative, passionate, courageous-all the things we've dreamed of becoming. When Wallflowers Dance is a fresh challenge to women who have lived hesitant, cautious lives but long to break free and dance!

Using both Scripture and story, Angela Thomas addresses the attributes of "becoming" and the freedom we have in Christ to keep developing the characteristics that reflect our God-given longings.

Financial Peace
Facilitator: Chuck and Amanda Underhill
One of biggest causes of controversy in our world today is money. This study teaches how to take control of your money rather than letting it take control of you. Come learn through biblical truths how to handle finances the way they were intended by Jesus Christ!

TheLucyShow
Facilitator:JoyceBrazell
This Bible study using the "The Lucy Show," the uproarious 1960's comedy starring Lucille Ball, will remind you of the way God works through us as you witness Lucy's acts of kindness, forgiveness, and craziness. Regardless of the trouble that she finds herself in, Lucy always finishes on top with the help of grace.

Grace Based Parenting
Facilitator: Tammy Adams
In Grace Based Parenting, Dr. Kimmel offers a revolutionary concept that focuses on the model and guidance provided by God the Father-the ultimate child and family expert. It isn't another manual full of impossible standards;rather it is a new map for learning to see ourselves and our children through God's limitless tenderness-to raise our kids the way God raises us. This thoughtful, profound and compassionate message presents a truly liberating way to nurture a healthy family. As we embrace the grace He offers, we begin to give it-creating a sound foundation for growing morally strong and spiritually motivated children.

The Case for Christ
Facilitator: Doug Blakenship - Youth
Who was Jesus? A good man? A lunatic? God? There's little question that he actually lived. But miracles? Rising from the dead? Some of the stories you hear about him sound like just that--stories. A reasonable person would never believe them, let alone the claim that he's the only way to God! But a reasonable person would also make sure that he or she understood the facts before jumping to conclusions. That's why Lee Strobel--an award-winning legal journalist with a knack for asking tough questions--decided to investigate Jesus for himself. As an atheist, Strobel felt certain his findings would bring Christianity's clear claims about Jesus tumbling down like a house of cards. He was in for the surprise of his life.Join him as he retraced his journey from skepticism to faith. You'll consult expert testimony as you sift through the truths of history, science psychiatry, literature, and religion reveal. Like Strobel, you'll be amazed at the evidence--how strong it is, and what it says. The facts are in. What will be your verdict in The Case for Christ

Faciltitor: DeeAnn Watts
This class will help students learn the importance of friendship. We will discuss what God intended for friendship and how to be a friend to others. We will look through the bible and find biblical examples of friendship and learn how to apply them to our lives today. In addition to friendship, we will learn some basic edicit that will help the children, at home, at school, and in public.

Truthopolis:Darwin vs. God
Children K-3rd grade
Facilitors: Robby and Diane Feaster
In an age where children are surrounded by bad influences, worldly philosophy and false teaching, it is vital that we teach our children discernment from God's Word.

By teaching about the flaws in man's "wisdom" and the perfect nature of God's wisdom, children learn how to defend themselves against ungodliness and experience real growth in Christ. Truthopolis isn't afraid to tackle issues that children face today, showing them that God's Word has the solution for every one of them. Fun, fresh, and fruitful, Truthopolis takes a modern approach to ministry while holding firm to the age-old Truth of God's Word.
